The mission of the Yokota West Elementary School Council is to empower our students through school and community activities that are educational and fun.

Goal One

All students will improve their writing across the curriculum.
Essence All students will critique, analyze, and revise their own work across the curriculum to clarify it or make it more effective in communicating the intended message or thought.  We will develop common vocabulary for writing across grade levels and across the curriculum. We will utilize grade-appropriate rubrics school-wide to assess student writing skills. The writing traits to be emphasized across the curriculum include Word choice; Ideas and Content; Organization; Voice; Sentence fluency; Conventions; and, Presentation.

Goal Two

All students will increase their scientific inquiry skills across the curriculum.

Essence Scientific inquiry skills at YWES include asking students to think as scientists and explore the world they have experienced; and to generate, evaluate, and apply data across the curriculum to answer questions they have posed. There are four phases of scientific inquiry:  connecting, designing, investigating and constructing meaning.
